Rob '69 Dodge Coronet R/T has a 400cid motor with a 4-speed, & it's a numbers matching car with the Dana 3.54 rear end. (99 convertibles were built with the 4-speed trans, & just 4 4-speed convertibles were built with the Hemi).
He's had it for 10 years & is just finishing the restoration, so he only puts on about 500 miles a year.

as marie would say - lovely car!
PS- on the side profile, way back in the background is that the Chrysler Firepower concept?

is that the Chrysler Firepower concept? Good eye, Rad! They had a ME Four-Twelve Prototype, too. One of the engineers calls it, "That German, car." It seems that it will have to be redone if/when Chrysler ever builds it, which isn't likely.
Every 2 weeks until the Cruise Weekend, CEMA, the Chrysler Employee Motorsport Assn. has a car meet at the headquarters in Auburn Hills. Here's a link from last year:

IMO, 1969 was one of the greatest years for Detroit Muscle. Great looking, fast cars, for about $3,000. Maybe also because my stock 'Cuda would do 141mph, right out of the showroom? ;)

Never seen one of those before... pretty cool.
Funny, i thought 'R/T' was a relatively new nomenclature... good to know.

I really like the side shot you did. They're just big, curved mirrors. Put them in the right light & they'll do all the work for you! ;)

Nice looking car! Where were these taken? Getting over the bridge lately has been hell! Took 1 1/2 hourd tonight to get over to pic up my Alienbee, might be worth it to ship for that wait.

I thought they came with a 440 Magnum four-barrel?? I like the pictures. The paint looks great! RAW is the way to shoot. :)

Don't you wished you hung onto that one Frank. At the time, I'd put 187,000 miles on it in 13 years, it was rusting out from under me, & hemis were going to the crusher. But you're right, that 383 was a beast of a motor, & I should have parked it in a barn somewhere! :D Where were these taken? At the Chrysler Museum in Auburn Hills. They have a meet every other Thursday 'till the Dream Cruise. I thought they came with a 440 Magnum four-barrel?? Me, too, & he probably meant 440, but I've learned to just write down what they tell me. RAW is the way to shoot. You'll get no argument from me on that! :D
Thank's for the comments!

most of them came with 440's... but sometimes there were only a few made for maybe 1 year, and a small number of them had that. because a lot of mopars cars are automatics. and back then nearly all of them came with 727torque flight transmissions. the more rare the options, and the car is especially with numbers matching. the more someone is willing to pay for it. i love mopars. what a beautiful car, and beautiful photos.
thank you for sharing that.

ps. it could have been a 383 bored over to 400?? You know, I think that's what Rob said, & it seemed so obvious that I didn't write that down? :D
Thanks!

At first I thought "Whats wrong with living in Malibu?" then I realized it's what you drive. At least I have tinted windows

At first I thought "Whats wrong with living in Malibu?" I think I could force myself to like living there for a while! :D
As for the Malibu, I was prepared to dislike it when I leased it. Now I like it enough that I bought it.
My mother lives 130 miles away, half expressway & half on 55mph two lane roads. I've reset the computer a few times before I started & the numbers at the end were Av speed: 67-69 mph w/ Av mpg = 33.9-34.6
Well, I thought, "HA! The computer lies!" :D But when I filled the tank & checked actual gas use, the best I got was 37.4 & 38.5mpg. They did a pretty good job engineering the motor-trans-rear end combination so it moves fairly well, so like the 'Cuda I mentioned above, I'll probably keep it until it rots out from under me, too. ;)

FYI: It can't be a numbers matching car if it has a 400 in it. It was either a 383-440 or 426 Hemi in Big-Block form. Anything else is a no-go for numbers matching.
The cars did come through with small-blocks in them, and i think a few even came with the ol' Slant Six.
However, the 400 didn't debut until the 70's. It was essentically a punched-out 383, but it was a boat-anchor of an engine. Good torque, no power.

...the ol' Slant Six. They're still running some of those here... with 2-stage blowers.
