I have spent about an hour reading through threads, and I am amazed at what I am understanding. Canon does not provide a reasonable way to convert .CRW files into .RAW or others. They give a version of Photoshop but have not created a utility for it to read .CRWs. I find this amazing.

Now a couple of questions...

1. It seems that the best thing to convert files and view files is Breeze. Please comment.

2. If I have to move from .CRW, what file format keeps all of the detail and depth?

3. I was excited about the Bibble Photoshop plug-in, but Bibble and the plug-in keep crashing my XP machine. Are others having this problem?

Thanks in advance.

One of the included Cannon utilities is "Raw Image Converter." This software will convert .crw (raw) files into TIFs.

Converting the file into a TIF with 16 bits per color will retain all of the original information, but will make for a ~ 22 meg file. The 8 bit/color is enough if you are not going to do touchup work on the image.
