Great shots.. I like the Kingfisher.

We have lots of raccoons in the rural area where I live, but I've never seen one live.. I only see ones that have been run over on the road.

Another vote for the Belted King Fisher Gary...great pose & I cant imagine being able to get that close to one. Cute looking raccoon too (but you may want to fix up the clone tool artifacts in the last shot)

Not sure I would buy one, yet. I'm the kind of guy that used W98 until 3 years ago, and still use XP and will for several more years. I like to wait till everyone else has pulled their hair out working out the bugs before spending my hard earned money on stuff pushed onto the market before it's ready. ;)

Well I'm looking to upgrade and can't see getting a Mk II when the MKIII is out New software is due 8-1-07 to fix focus issue and most users haven't experienced it anyway

This is the son of a Sytems Analyst, mind you.

I think I would [if I could afford it] buy a 1DMkIIs first. With the Mk III out, the price on those should come down some and 16.8Mp is something worth having. I do a lot of pixel peeping in this and other forums and look at almost all the EXIF, and I don't see the MkIII IQ as any better than a MkIIN, to be honest, maybe softer even.

It's just an observation, as I will never be able to afford one of them anyway. :)

he refuses to move away from Windows ME
I still have an old laptop with ME on it, what a piece of warm dogdoo OS. Uncle Bill should be ashamed for letting that one out..

Sorry Gary....I didnt mean for you to delete it! I too am looking for a second body and up until I got hooked on birding it was going to be a 5D. Now it looks like it will be a MkIIn, however the anticipated price drop due to the presence of the MkIII doesnt seem to have materialized, so I may need to wait a little longer :(

No problem Scott I've several that are still in Raw and would probably not need Cloning I'm getting the MK III I can't see spending the $3300 on a 1D MkIIn when for a little more I can have a MkIII

I'm not changing twice.

Man those lil Kingfishers are showstoppers aren't they? I really like the composition and focus of the "King". I like the GBH as well but there is something very appealing about a nice tranquil shot of a little bird that is so skittish I am lucky to ever just "see" one let alone have a decent shot. Nice Racoon shot...like the catchlights.

I know where they perch now for catching fish. Just think what this would look like without the branch in front of him.

I think I'd Kill for a close in-flight with a fish of a belted Kingfisher.
