i have been going crazy with a heavy yellow green cast on my prints
i am using photoshop CS and an epson 2200
things were working swell -
i was using color management/color controls (not ICM in my printer output dialog)
then one day for no apparent reason the yellow green cast arrived
after some experimenting i used color management/ICM/applied by printer software and things looked great - in fact i am not sure but I believe they improved
well yesterday the cast reappeared
i have tried everything to get ICC profiles to work including ICC / no color adjustment on the printer
my color space is adobe rgb 1998
the basling has an embedded space of IEC61966
i have tried to use it - ignore it - and convert it with no different result
for now i have given up and have reverted to color management/color controls not ICC and am getting OK results but fear I would have a quality improvement if I could get the ICC stuff working again

a possible clue is i got a dialog in PS a few days ago asking for scratch space option to be reset and the toutorial dialog as if PS thought I was using it for the first time
no sure why

thanks...

Have you done a cartridge check on the printer. Happened to me when onbe was not firing right. Took them all out, cleaned the contacts and put them back in again. Worth a try.

I'm not at all sure about the settings being used here. To use printer profiles with the latest 2200 printer driver, then this is the conventional way of doing it:

In PS CS, your working space will usually be either AdobeRGB or sRGB. Use Print with Preview and select the source space as Document, print space as the appropriate printer profile for the paper you are using. Select intent Perceptual.

In the printer driver, set the media type to the paper you are using; in advanced settings, choose ICM and No Color Adjustment.

This assumes you have the Epson printer profiles installed. The latest versions are available on the Epson web site.

thanks john
you pointed me in the right direction
i had been getting previews by selecting preview in the print output dialog
i had not been doing a print with preview in PS
the print space profile needed changed
i have 9 profiles starting with SP2200
i expect those are the ones loaded when i installed the 2200 driver
they appear to cover the range of papers i typically use
are there others ?
there is am improvement(slight) in the vividness of th colors
compared to using color management color controls at 1.8 gamma which is what i was using
thanks again...jh

1. Make sure your monitor is calibrated and the profile you created is saved in Windows as your default monitor profile. Use either Adobe Gamma or hardware soln. like Spyder with Optical
2. In Photoshop :
Source: Adobe RGB or SRGb, however the image is tagged.
Output: This is where you select the ICC profile for the paper and ink. For the 2200, using Photo Black ink(not matte) and premium Glossy Paper, you would select SP2200premiumglossyPK
3. Printer Driver(very important!):
Check off No Color Management, otherwise you will have two profiles telling the printer what to do.
Select Premium Glossy Paper from the Paper Menu.
Turn off High Speed Printing
Select 1440 or 2880 dpi

Alternatively you could choose not to color manage in Photoshop and choose the appropriate ICC profile in the Epson printer driver. The point being, if you choose an ICC profile in one (PS or Printer), don't pick one again in the other. You'll get magenta cast or other bad results.

Don't download the new profiles on Epson's web site. They stink. Use the ones on the install disk.

You might want to review posts by "Maderito" on this topic. I learned about this stuff from him.
