This would be my first post on this amazing forum. I have been studying it religously for the last month or so and love the amount of knowledge present here.

So here is my first question.

I know that there has been alot of talk about the replacement 10D and I dont mean to raise more unanswerable question about a product that might not even be in existence. However I am starting to get a little concerned.

I am really looking forward to purchasing the 10D next week and think that it would be a good purchase above the 300D despite the price difference. I just believe that what you are getting in addition is worth the extra cash. If I should wait for the new model to come out I am not certain of the price and it maybe well above that of the 300D.

I just dont want to wait for the next model and then end up having to buy the 300D because I cant afford the 10D replacement and I can no longer find the 10D.

That was kind of long winded by here is the realy question. Do your guys thing that the replacement will be between the 300D and the MKII? (ie 3-4K, cnd).

Thanks for any response.

It can often take several months for an announced product to actually hit the stores -- nevermind that the product hasn't even been announced yet, and nevermind that you don't know what the price will be. Are you willing to wait for that lag, or do you want to start taking pictures now?

I work for Apple and people are always asking me "should I wait for the next big thing," but if you need it now, just get what's out now.

If you always wait for "the next great thing" that's going to come out "real soon now" then you'll never buy a piece of electronics for the rest of your life.

If it does what you want (or almost) for the price that you want (or almost) then buy it.

Buy the 10D now

It is a great camera, and when it's replacement comes out it will still be a great camera.

When I bought my 10D I was concerned about having a £1300 camera that would be replaces withing a couple of years. But then it dawned on me, it will still do exactly the same as it did when I bought it in 2 years time, so why worry!

Unless you need to print billboards the 10D is a great camera Buy that and invest in some great glass and you will be amazed at the results that you can get. I have seen some amazing photgraphs taken and manipulated or just printed stright from the camera both by pros and high levl photo hobbiest.

the next dSLR generation announcements should be close...

Photokina is around the corner? Id expect something to be announced within that time period...

i notice most 10d users i actually meet, they dont need a 10d, id have more use for its extra functions than they would...

but if i had the money, and no camera...id take a 10d over my 300d, but i dont have the money, and i have my 300d...so ill wait to upgrade :)
