C&C #1 I don't view slideshows. 8 images in the thread will get you more comments if you want C&C.

You don't view slideshows because you can't or because you don't feel like it? I'm confused about that.
I prefer posting a slide for the reason that of course I can show 8 good photos (or at least I'ld better be able to for what people are paying :)). I want to know what other photographers think of my beginning to end covering of a wedding. Sure, it's a couple of minutes. If that's too long for some, that's totally understandable. But for those that will take the time, it's really criticism over the whole of my shoot that I'm after, not just after a few of my favorites. Hope that makes sense. Don't mean to sound rude or anything. I always appreciate your input, Tim :)

The photos are fine, but the slide show needs some help. On my system the transitions are not good looking and the image is only fully clear just a fraction of a second before it transitions to the next shot. You hardly get a chance to see the image looking good before it is gone.
Look into what level of compression you are using. It seems to be really hammering the images. Once you actually get to see the full image, they look nice. You just don't get to see much of them. Problem is with the show, not your images, which is a good thing.
As to the comments above, there is a large group that doesn't want to go to a linked site - they want the images here only. You may want to post here a couple of your proudest shots and still include the link. Can't hurt.
Cheers.

Slide shows are bigger, take longer to download, and take longer to view. If you want critique from professionals you better make it easy for us, or we're not going to bother, we're all pretty busy.

Just for kicks I tried to view your slideshow- it crashed my browser. Sure, my crappy old laptop can't handle a whole lot, but most slideshows I can handle with ease! THAT is one more reason people don't like to view slideshows... :)

Thanks for the advice there. I do need to find a higher quality slide, that's for sure. The version that I give the client is in fact high-res, but I would much prefer a way to have better quality online. Any suggestions? I know of showit and will probably buy it sometime soon here. Anything else you know of till then?

If you want critique from professionals you better make it easy for us, or we're not going to bother, we're all pretty busy.Hey man, I don't want to argue and get all violent with a kiwi  If you don't want to do it, I am totally fine with that. :)
Now, If I remember correctly, I think this slide is about the same size as a high-res photo (like 7 or so mb's - could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that's right). And no need to download anything - it's meant to stream. I have the cheapest cox internet available and the whole thing streams completely in about 10 seconds on my laptop (to where you can even fast forward to the end). My best friend has fairly crappy dsl and it loads just fine on there. I'm real confused as to the couple responders speaking of crashing servers. I've never heard that until here. All in all, since I don't care to have a couple images critiqued and would rather have a whole slide critiqued, I'm not to worried about loading time, to be honest (since that's my only option). I'm wanting apples and you're sort of telling me how to go about getting oranges. Dumb analogy, but I think it explains it.
Lastly, I'm a professional. Have a family/house and haven't had another job in almost two years now. I have no problem with viewing slides. In fact, I sort of don't see the point to critiquing the best five or six shots of someone else. It's sort of a given to me that anyone can come up with a few great shots. It's fine that others want that critiqued. I fully understand that. I just happen to not desire that, that's all. I think the best way to really critique a wedding photographer is by doing so based off of a whole wedding. Basing a critique off of a few images seems a little too on the surface for me. Plus, I think I make it pretty clear in the title. It says slides. If slides don't tickle your fancy, that's totally fine. It seems since you already know you won't watch slides, it's just a waste of your time to argue with a dope like myself :p I figured I would ask some others to check out the images in the slide and let me know their thoughts, that's all. If no one responds, that's fair enough. If some do, that's great. Not super serious for me.
Hope I don't sound too confrontational or upset. I truly am not. I'm smiling about 95% of the time. The other 5% I'm sleeping ;)

Looks like the photos could be really nice, but it is very hard to tell due to the quality/transitions in the slideshow, I dont think the slideshow does your pictures the justice they deserve.
Flash just works a whole lot better for this sort of thing imo, ShowIt Web is definitely worth the investment i reckon, better quality for smaller files, streams better, more universally accepted as plugin that quicktime is and with added features like being able to email a show link, browse thumbnails etc, heres one of mine made with showit, do your pictures justice and inbest in it I reckon http://www.boundlessphotos.co.uk/slideshows/bp008/

Thanks Banbert. I actually watched that slide of yours recently. I loved the flowergirl images. Very cool. Quick question, can you put video in those slides with showit? I couldn't find anything about that on the showit webpage.

It is kinda small... Not sure if I like the zoom out transitions... timing is not bad... sound is kinda sketchy...

It's nice, I quickly scanned through it and I did see at least one duplicate picture in there (the one of the grass aisle way). Also, you may want to liven up the slideshow a bit. All it is is fade in/zoom in, fade out. Fade in/zoom out, fade out, repeat. Gets a bit boring imo.
Like the others say, post the pictures in here so we can properly critique them :)
What'd you use for the slideshow btw.

As a side note, Banbert, your slide was amazing! That's the kind of slide that kept my attention!

okay... first about the complaints the 'pros' have..
I have an extremely crappy 512kbps connection. I had to wait about 2 seconds before the slideshow started automatically. It finished downloading before I was thru the middle of the slideshow. Time taken... I don't know, a couple of minutes? c'mon guys, give it a shot at least!
One suggestion about the movie. Since it is compressed for the web, that is, heavily compressed, the transitions get all pixelated, and then the next picture takes a little time to get clear. I would add half a second or even one more second for each image completely still, this way the viewer has time to see the picture without the compression artifacts.
About the pictures.. I like them a lot, all of them. It's diffcult to comment individually because there are many pics so...
... in Tim's defense.. when you post a few pictures (he mentioned 8 ) he takes the time to give you his impressions of each picture, and I find those comments very educating. I don't think he would take the time to comment on each of the pics in your slideshow. perhaps that's what he meant.
cheers!

I have a 10Mb connection, it'll come in quick as I can watch it, I just don't want to. Slide shows take longer than looking at images. So if you want critique from busy people, make it easy for them.

The show started instantly on my comp however I have some extremely fast internet connection. Nice photos but the slideshow compression might be too high and the transitions are not very smooth. And the photos are too small. I would love to see bigger version of the photos.
I love slide show with music because it really show the emotion of the wedding but to post up photos here may just be easier for those without fast internet connection or a slower machine. :)

loved the pictures, hated the slide show. id rather have the pictures up instantly, not that fade in thing. You really dont get to enjoy the pictures because they are too small. I think for us to view, a gallery would have been better, or just post up few of the best. and to pick the best is going to be hard because lotsa good shots.

I agree with Tim, but I'm also a big fan of his. Give us a gallery, possibly even private to avoid showing everyone else in the world the images, so we can actually look at the individual photos and have enough time to review them to critique them.
Also, the transitions between pictures don't seem to finish until about a second before it flips to the next image, so I only get to see the "true" picture for .5-1 second. At a "full resolution" of 320x240. While listening to a song in French. For a couple that was married here in Nashville (my hometown).

I posted in another thread but here's the link below to my new wedding gallery. Thanks for your input ;)

The last given link is much better, even though these images are showing your general work and are probably the highlights. The images are very good, I like them, even though one time the flash stopped working, but after reopening the web site, it was fine.
Regarding your first Quicktime video. To small (I have a 24" TFT and this tiny window shows some images), to poor quality due size & compression, the music didn't sound good due to transfer speed (I have a 6000 KBit line / sec).
