Nice, but I would have color corrected it more and added some glamour to her by softening her skin and such, she is pretty and looks confortable there. I would have done something like this to her.

uhh.. Cgratti.. unless Owen and I have the same "miscalibration" problem.. I'd say your color correction was more of a color mistake..

Your's is looking horrible on my Sony.. she has green hair!

Have to agree with CDS your monitor is in need of serious calibration, very green hair :?

I like the origional, it gives you the feeling that a fun time was being had by all.

Owen,
I took the liberty of "doing" your photo.
How's this look to you?

DAMphyne thanks i get what you are trying to show me but i think what you have done is just a bit to soft. Thank for taking the time to respond

The hair on my CRT isnt green, it's a tanish blonde. Hmmmm, CDS is your monitor calibrated? Mine isn't... It must be my monitor, thanks for letting me know. I will have to get it calibrated.

Sorry cgratti but this post processed looks awfull on my Mac.

Owen, I do not like the "flatness" of the original. Try to play around with some lighting variations! Also the sharpness of the eyes should be better and a little stripe reflection is disturbing. The position or her arms is to tight to her body and I would definitely let her wear another bra.
What I do like is that your girlfriend looks very spontaneous.

I think she could use a little softening, but not to the extent it's been taken to
in the edits so far.

Owen:
I think you did a good job. Not sure I'd soften it as much as DAMphyne did.

That's a bitch, isn't it? If it looks perfect on a PC, it's all washed out on the Mac!

Owen,
I just ran your portrait through a Photoshop action that I have. I thought you might enjoy a look at what some "Pros" use to enhance their photos.
I really wasn't suggesting that this photo needed all that softening.
One thing I've noticed about digital photography is that "sharpness" seems to be the measure of a good photo and a so-so photo.
Some of the best photographers go to extremes to soften their photos in an attempt to get a mood.
I'd be interested in hearing what your Lovely girlfriend has to say about the Softened photo.
I'd say, Have Fun, but it looks like that's already happening.

DamPhyne.. I'd be interested in that action? Is it one downloadable or one you made? It does a good job.. though it was a bit much here.. if done to a seperate layer.. by tweeking opacity we could get exactly the effect we desire.

I did one for a friend who does a lot of model shoots but doesn't know PS worth a darn. I took the full size image, duplicated the background layer, Gaussian Blurred the new layer with a radius of 20, then reduced opacity until I was pleased, which was about 15-17% I think.

I don't have rights to the image or model permission, but you can look at the results here, in the "After" shot. http://ompi.onemodelplace.com/OMP_Images/Photographer/68801/68801_p_C69164BA-2B3D-897A-29575DE342258828.jpg

The "Before" is before Elaine did her makeup, before Raj took the picture, and before I cloned, healed and blurred. Same girl, but a bit of a difference.

CDS,
It's an action my employer purchased as a group of actions on disc. I'll try to find out where it was purchased and forward that information.
Yes, it is on layers and you can change the opacity of the blur, in fact, while the action is playing, it stops so that you can go over the eyes, nose, and lips with the background eraser to allow the sharper background layer to come through. I've experimented with changing the amount of eraser pressure to find different effects. It's a good tool to have around, and I use it all the time for Portraits.
It also has a "Lite" version for "High-Key" portraits.
