View Full Version : Which Crumpler????

I currently own the Crumpler 4 Million Dollar Home and love this bag as an small/compact shoulder bag to carry around my 30D with 28-135 lens attached and the niffty 50. I recently added a 70-200 f/4L IS, and this lens obviously won't fit in the bag regardless of it being attached or not to the 30D.
Can anyone from experience recommend either 5 Million Dollar home or another Crumpler that will accomodate the 30D with a 24-105 f4/L attached (I am looking to purchase this lens very soon) and the 70-200?

so just the 30D w/ 24-105 attached and a 70-200? or did you want to put your other lenses in there too?
i have a 6MDH and it fits my XT w/ 17-55IS attached w/ hood reversed, sigma 70-300 APO DG Macro (probably w/ hood reversed haven't tried), nifty 50 with hood collapsed (rubber), 430EX, and has 1 more compartment in the main area where i will probably store my rocket blower. then in the side pockets i keep my battery chargers, and in the front i keep a mini tripod, manuals, microfiber cloth, and little nick nacks (remote shutter). and in the internal accessory pouch i keep my flash diffusers, memory cards, and whatever else
this should provide you with plenty of room for what you need (it's not even very big either)

I find the Crumplers to be way too small for my needs. Get the next size up. You won't regret it.

That is what I was thinking, either the 6mdh or the 5mbh if it will hold enough

Hey I have a 5mdh.
I am also wishing i went with the 6mdh. But I can fit a XTi with tamron 17-50 attached, 70-200L F4 on the side and a 430ex on the other side. That will be at capacity.

yeah if you think you need the 5mdh get the 6mdh
i figured the 6mdh would be good for me and i have already filled it --- it should still last me a while though (i hope) as i don't plan to make my next upgrade for a while

that's exactly what i wanted to hear. i currently have the 4MDH, which is perfect when i just want to carry light (30D and tamron 17-50). sometime i wish i can carry the 70-200 also, so sound like the 5mdh will do just that....plus it will have room for my 430ex too. i still want to just have the smallest bag possible, since i carry my lowepro minitrekker if i need to haul all my gear.

I would go with a 6MDH as a minimum. Always good to have some extra room. I have a 7MDH and just love it.

That is exactly what I like to do. I have a larger bag that will hold all my gear, but I like to have something smaller too. I think I am going to keep the 4mdh and look at adding the 5 or 6 mdh to use when I want to take along the 70-200.

here are some pics i took of my 6MDH and what it can hold. use these pics to gauge for yourself how you think your gear would fit in this bag... hopefully this should help you out a little bit on making your decision.
and btw just pretend that instead of the 18-55 in the pics it's a 17-55 with hood reversed (cuz that fits nicely too and it's bigger :p)

Can you show pictures? I also have 5MDH, but I can only fit 30D+17-55IS and 580ex. No way the 70-200F4L will go in in my case.

Id say go the 6 million. Ive got one with pretty much everything in my gear list in it. If i have to borrow my dads 70-200 f4 for any reason, then i put the 50mm and 18-55 where the rocket blower and stofen is and put the 70-200 on the left and leave the rest at home. (lensbaby and extension tubes)

OK, I went to the local Camera shop and took a look at both the 5mdh and the 6mdh and I think I am definitely going with the 6mdh. Thank you all for you suggestions and pic's et... they were all helpful. With that said - I have been looking all over the internet to try and find a good deal on this bag and not matter where you look, I can't seem to find it for less than $104.00. Does anyone have a suggestion on where you can find the 6mdh for less than $104? Are there any coupon or rebates floating around out there???

i do have a suggestion:
www.photocous.com and use the checkout code "SALE" and it should cut it down to about $94 after shipping

Sorry to bring this thread back but would the 4 MDH hold a XTi, 17-85, and 70-300 IS? That is all I want to carry with me 90% of the time.

Domino, I have the 4mdh and it holds my 30D with the 28-135 attached and the niffty fiffty - it won't hold what you have, the 70-300 is too long. I recently purchased the 6mdh to go along with the 4md and I think the 2 are a great combo. The 6mdh holds my 30D with the 28-135 attached, my 70-200 f4/L IS, the 50mm, other odds and ends and still has plenty of room for another couple lenes.

I forgot about that site. They always have a decent sale on Crumpler's. I keep wondering if the site i got my 7MDH off of will ever carry Crumpler's again. $70. They said it was an out-of-season sale. Anyone know if Crumpler comes out with a new line every year?

The 7MDH, IINM, was released in 2005 and hasn't been updated since? Seems crazy to me that the price has held at just under $130...
