I tried ordering this thing from just about every place Think Tank listed and all told me 3 - 4 weeks to get one. I ordered it yesterday from Think Tank themselves and my 30D + 70-200/2.8L IS is sitting in it right now. I got this model so I could leave my hood faced out, ready for action.
OK, so a couple of things: first, besides the incredible customer service, this thing is built like a .. a....well, a tank. It's solid as heck, even with the 'nose' unzipped. The Holster 30 allows you to unzip the end to allow for the hood to be left in the ready position. I imagine the 100-400 would fit nicely as well. I do NOT have the tripod ring on my 70-200 right now, but don't see that as a problem. It's a TIGHT fit getting in there, primarily because TT stored the rain pouch inside the holster. It's stored alone one side, in its own pocket and held fast by a nice strap. I'd like the option to remove it tho, since getting the lens in is such a tight fit. Once in, there's an extra full size flap to close in your camera/lens. Between that flap and the zippered top is perhaps 1/2" of space, which I've used to stow my camera strap.
There's a bit of storage in the top, the typical clear plastic zippered pouch. I guess you could fit your CPL in there in a case. On the outside, there's another nice little zippered pocket that would fit memory cards and other little goodies.
The strap and the strap connectors are both first rate. They even thought to add a little extra flap to the rings to ensure the snaps for the strap can't contact your camera on its way in or out. On one side is a velcro-fastened very large belt loop, which you could use for the TT belt or your own. There's also a sewn-in handle on the top with a business card holder beneath it.
This is a top notch bag. With my 30D and the 70-200/2.8, there's not much room left for anything else, a couple memory cards in that outside pocket and the aforementioned CPL in the top, but that's it. No matter - that's exactly what I was looking for.
I just bought a Domke F1x for "all" my gear and now this. I still have a Lowepro toploader and a Kata C-59 and 604. I think I'm becoming a bag slut. :D I love the Kata's and just can't see getting rid of them. My SO got me the Lowepro, so it's staying. I can see another TT bag at some point in the future - these things are just TOO cool.
OK, so that's it. Nice bag at a terrific price - $69. $80 delivered including tax and all. Time to go out and give it a workout!
