It's great up there. I went with my camera, but this was mainly a riding day for me. until i met this one guy who's insanely good, and very interested in pictures. so i got these.

#2 for this one, use -1 compensation and metered on the clouds. then used my 580 to light the rider up

lotsa kewl shots with a lot of action happening. i know it was gettin dark but even tho dark, idea is to use flash so wont look like flash.
re: shot 2, u metered the sky and balanced the flash to it, but then all the trees turn black. when i meter for sky, i try to make the flash as much as bg as i can so u dont get the half black bg. i would have gone for a lower angle and shoot upward like shot 4.
shot 3 is awesome shot, id just attack in ps to brighten up the rider just a bit more to make him really stand out!
shot 4 is awesome too but just flash was bit strong on the foreground. not much u can do shooting wise but u can fix in ps easily. just burn in the ground a bit.
and last shot turned out kewl but grainy!
heres shot 3:

just bit of sharpening and dodging to bring him out more.

thanks for the comments.
i agree with you about the flash. but that is the kind of shot that the guy wanted. and he's thrilled with it. I do have many shots that have the bg visible, but it's very boring and almost distracting.
i agree about the angle too. but this was very close to the ground, so there was no where to go to shoot up, and if i was anymore in front of him, i would have died.
i'll have to go out when the weather is better and we have some more light. as i said, i wasn't planning on shooting that day until i met this guy. I want to work on the jumps in the woods. with trees and what not in the foreground. lot's of experimenting.
