For those of you that have been before, is the tradeshow and keynotes worth attending?

I have been twice and will go again if I can. It is not huge but you get a chance to look/touch/feel gear and talk to professional printers (www.whcc.com was there). For me its an easy train ride. Dennis

I go every year for free and its well worth paying if you have to. If there is any way you can go, go, you will not be sorry!

Just go to their website. If you register by a certain date, it's free.
I paid for the Gold Pass because I like to spend money ;) and I like to get in an hour earlier than the crowds.
Last year was my first and I loved it. I went at least two days and maybe more. And B&H runs a free shuttle too.

This year will be my 5th i think, and i wouldn't miss it both getting to be hands on with all the new gear and talking to all the reps alone is worth the entrance price. But i also attend the keynotes and several of the lectures and find them to be very informative on new practices and techniques. Also B&H usually gives a discount to attendees plus other vender's offer discounts during the event. f anyone wants to put together a POTN meeting during the weekend I think that would be fun. Getting to meet some fellow members maybe go do some shooting around the city.

Might be interested.
My co-woker is bugging me to go.
We'll see. It'll be my first time.
Any chance Canon might have some new "stuff" there? (Or are they even there???)

Are you kidding? Not only are they there, they've got a HUGE set up, beautiful models, the absolute top names in the business shooting the models. I love cars, but this beats the car show hands down.
They've got a counter where they've got all their lenses (last year they had the 50 f1.2 to play with before it had hit the market) to play with. It is truly a hands on show. All around the floor are demonstrations with beautiful models, photogs shooting them under different lighting conditions while giving lessons to those standing by. I could go on. It's got to be seen to be believed.

Do you guys bring your cameras to the show to test out the lenses?

If you get the GoldPass which gets you in one hour before the general public the first two days, my experience last year was the Canon reps would allow you to test the lenses on your own camera. Once the crowds descend, you can only use their tethered cameras.
I bring my camera not to test their lenses but to shoot interesting things (models, etc) walking around the show, including a lot of famous faces.

One of them, Samsung I think, always has an awesome round aquarium set up that I like to get shots from.

I am seriously considering going to this. I can't believe the cost of hotels in NYC, at least the ones they have linked from their site. These are supposedly a deal already.

It's a very interesting event, to say the least. Lots of freebies to be had, brochures, magazines, Nikon plastic bags (which make great all around carry bags), etc. Definitely a huge playground for photographers.
What day are you all going? Saturday looks good for me. Perhaps Friday too, but I have to work around my son's schedule.
