Could anyone direct me to a manual/instructions for the above lens? I got this camera for my partner but I can't find any information on it at all.

Okay, how difficult is it you might say... but I just discovered that if you switch it to manual, you can twist the front part out a bit further. Is this for macro? Or does it serve no particular purpose?

Thanks for any advice on this.

That is how you focus the lens. When on autofocus it does the same thing it's just there is a motor inside the lens that is attached to the "brains" of the camera.

Autofocus is generally faster and more accurate, but not always "smarter" with time you'll learn what i mean.

Thanks Timmy, I just wondered if there was a special use for it, as the front bit seems to come out an awful lot further when used in manual.

The best way is probably just to play around with it, but I think it would have been useful to have an instructions booklet, especially for newbies!

One thing to note - you shouldn't manually turn the focus ring on the lens when it is set to 'AF', as this may damage the focusing motors. Or so I've been told...

Hmm... yes I thought so. Thanks.
