I always love shots like this---sports with no action. It is a character study, and a good one in that he is not happy with the last play and now he is summoning himself to do better.

I like the shot, but maybe just a little tighter crop. Not much, because I get why you left so much space in front of him. But I really like this shot. It has character.

If that's cheesy, then call me Mayor Mc Cheese ;)
It's part of the beauty of baseball...

Seen it done so many times I don't like or dislike it, just indifferent really. I think it's good for telling a story, like he just gave up a walk off HR or something.

I like it. I was a pitcher in college and this really brings up memories. Several times after either walking a batter or getting one taken over the fence, I would find myself feeling alone and responsible to the team. Great picture from someone who has been there.

Thank you for the replies everybody. I was afraid it might seem to everyone a little overdone or something, but I'm glad to see the positive comments. Appreciate it.

I like your shot of the pitcher.
I would imagine this was after giving up a home run?
I agree with Apollo11 there are so many times in sports where shots that are devoid of action still portray emotion.
Like after a team loses...

I like it also, I look at it and expect to see some famous old time player... but then the suddle effects come through...
"Wait, thats not a famous ball player, it's a kid, and it is an all dirt muncipal looking field... " says to me that the pain of failure doesn't rely on a big dollar salary, or 40,000 fans.
Nice shot, deeper than I think you even realized.

Yes, I think this was after giving up a couple runs, but he pulled himself together and they won 4-2.

I think this shot works....nothing cheesy about it. I think that his expression is one of disgust like if he just gave up the winning run or lost the game.
