Came across this link from www.strobist.com and I didn't see it posted anywhere here, so I thought I would post it.

We all have to work with group shots with the B&G, bridal parties, groomsmen, parents, etc. Some of us have gotten really creative and unique with it (see any wedding from Toogy to see what I mean).

This is a link of one of the greatest group posers and how he poses groups of holleywood stars. I figure it'd be good inspiration for us.

Link here (http://www.vanityfair.com/culture/features/2007/02/hollywoodcovers_slideshow200702?slide=1).

Cheers

Thanks for the link Bryan,

Maybe I will be in the minority... sure this individual works with hollywood stars, and probably gets the big bucks, but quite frankly, I was not impressed with any of the examples that were posted on the website... probably why I am living paycheck to paycheck :D

I really find more inspiration in Jeff's, and other posters work right here on POTN. I find Annie's work to be very distracting. There just seems to be too much going on... at least to my eye. Reminds me of a "Where's Waldo" book.

Thanks for the link. I belong to the Strobist group on Flickr, but somehow missed this. :)

cool link, but yeah... many of the people look stiff and uncomfortable. Cool for a magazine, but it doesn't seem like the type of arrangement grandma would like to have on her wall....

I'm also of the opinion that those group shots weren't great. Just badly composed, mostly well lit - but still badly composed.

They aren't bad, but I don't really like the posing or expressions all that much, but it's Annie Leibowitz, so it must be good right??? Honestly, I'd pick a Toogy groupshot over these just about every day of the week.

I think Annie Leibovitz has creative ideas, but more for the model / magazine industry. It could be interesting to try a few with large bridal parties and adapt them to the wedding situation (have the people be more relaxed and smiling)...It's always good to have a starting point for inspiration and then make the ideas your own.
