Hello All,

I recently went to the butterfly garden's near here and snapped a couple of Macro photos. I haven't had much experience with Macro so I thought I would get some feed back.

What are your thoughts on these images. Specifically relating to DOF and cropping. Sauration seems a bit high to me but that is a personal taste issue (I didn't increase the saturation, just played with curves a bit when converting from RAW).

I used a 70-200 f/2.8 IS with Kenko extension tubes and a Sigma Ring Flash.

Any other comments would also be appreciated.

Thanks,

Ryan

Ok, I like the frog shot. I think the dof is good and colors rock. Nice image.

As for the butterfly, the only thing I would have tried differently is try to get the shot without the wing tips being blurred. I don't know if it was movement or too much DOF. I really like the colors in that one too.

I think overall, it's good work.

pretty pictures!

shot 1: id like it a bit darker, seems too bright so losing details and that white "blob" just keeps attracting my eyes (white usually does) so id clone it out.

shot 2: great job! looks absolutely icky so its perfect!! love his eyes!

Thanks for the input. The wings were moving so it is motion and not DOF, but I agree, it would have been nice to have the wings in focus.

Thanks

Quick question. Is your monitor calibrated? This is a new monitor I'm working with so its possible it isn't calibrated correctly (Windows Vista has proved a challenge). #1 doesn't look real bright to me but that could be my monitor. It is frustrating not knowing if your monitor is correct.

Thanks for the input, I'll make a print and see how it looks for brightness.

Thanks
