Red eye ?

Hi im new to photography and i have just bought myself a canon a80. At the moment im not getting in to manual settings as i dont want to try and run before i can walk, but i have set the red eye setting to on but im still getting red eye and the red eye filter light only seems to come on some times, when the redeye filter is set to on should that red eye light come on with every shot i take ?

After you turn on the red eye light, it should fire on every shot when the flash is needed.

But the red eye light only effective when the subject is looking at it.
You still getting a red eye if the subject is looking some where else.

Don't worry about it. You can always remove the red eye by using Photoshop.

I would prefer turn off the red eye light, thus the camera will shoot faster,
and I will remove the red eye in Photoshop if needed.

Another problem is when taking a group picture, some of them will think that the red eye light is the actual flash and the picture has been taken. They start to turn their head before the actual flash. You will get the result is not what you want.
