Could someone kindly have a look at the thread I posted earlier and tell me why members are advising me that I should have used fill flash in these photo's.

I'm a little confused as to why this should be because fill flash was in fact used :(. I knew I had, but people started me doubting myself. I have just pulled up all the meta data/exif files to check if I was mistaken. I wasn't. Fill flash was used.

I have used the histogram in levels to try and get them as close to correct as I can. What am I missing? Is there something else I need to do?

I really enjoyed doing the wedding. It was my very first go and was done for free as a favour.

I want to improve and really would like some help.

Try using AV. That would help. I took a quick glance at your exif and it said you used "automatic" exposure.

I think you have to be careful not to take some peoples comments to heart or at least weight them appropriately against other peoples, some people are very liberal with their comments whilst not really demonstrating that they can do it themsleves .... thats not to say that they all dont have the skills to backup their comments because I am sure some do but I prefer to listen to the people that demonstrate they know what they are talking about.

Banbert, thanks. They are wise words. Advice from photogs whose work I admire is great.

I desperately want to improve and appretiate the help you and other forum members like you can give.

Liza, the photo's were taken in Av to allow me to shoot more rapidly than I could in full manual mode. This is quite unusual for me as I normally do operate fully manual. Thanks for the suggestion though. Your web site is excellent and nice work too. WOW
