I adore my S30 from 3 years ago but realize that 3 megapixiels is still only giving me an 8x10 of quality. Is it worth the $400+ to shift to the S60 with 5 megapixels and 11x14 capability?
Or should I really be holding out for unannounced Nikon or Canon that gives me 14-20 megapixels for under $1000?

S60 will give you DIGIC II and a 28mm wide angle, in addition to the print capabilities. But I think that the number of megapixels is less important. You should care about the noise and CA you may find in this camera (see the G5 review in dpreview.com, because I am almost sure the sensors are identical). If you have 1000 USD, try the Digital Rebel! I will have a DSLR as soon as I have the budget

It is so tempting to look at megapixel counts and overlook the rest. The new lens and apparently easier-to-use controls are also tempting, but I suppose it is safer to await thoughtful reviews of the captured image before dropping the money. And my Nikon lenses are sitting happily on the shelf, waiting for the next generation beyond the D70 when we can see not 6 megapixels but 14 or 20!
Thanks for your comments.

If it works, don't fix it... :D
