what does "terrible time" mean? are you sending really huge files via email?

the files could just be too big. or if you want. you can actually create an account with youtube.com, and load them onto there, and then send people the link. and they dont have to be public videos. you can make them all private.

When I tried to email a video a message came up that read "only JPEG images can be sent by email". So I tried to use "export videos". I found out that I needed to install QuickTime first, but I couldn't install the latest version because I don't have win XP or Vista. So I tried to find an older version of QuickTime. I found and installed QuickTime 5 for win 2000, but I don't think it's a free download, so I won't be able to keep it. It didn't work anyway. I tried to send the video to myself, it sent but wouldn't let me play it.

try youtube or photobucket. photobucket can load videos. it takes a while. but all you have to do is copy and paste the link into the email.

its a video hosting site. you can load all of your pictures in there, and load videos as well. its free and easy. and you can resize in there to post pictures on here.

If you're being told your mail provider doesn't support anything but JPEGs, you're going to have to use some alternative method of delivery. If your ISP gives you some web space, you could post it there for downloading. Or you can use one of the galleries, or there's always Yousendit.com. The thing to remember about e-mailing videos is that they're big, and they'll fill up/jam up the recipient's mailbox while transferring. For that reason, one of the other approaches is better.

Precisely why I have not even been tempted to have a purely video camera! I have made some .avi files with the S3, but only the very shortest ones are small enough to E-Mail. I can't see writing a DVD for Postal Mailing. I've asked a number of people I've seen taking 'movies' what the did with them. The usual answer has been 'watch 'em in the Winter'... Phooey...

I'll try QuickTime again. I ended up uninstalling it because I don't think it was a free download, something about the licence expires in 3 days? Thanx mkuriger.
Thanx Jon that's good to know.:-)
283CID, I don't understand.
Do you mean that cameras should be for pictures and video cams should be for the movies, or that it's just to complicated to send videos through the mail.
Can you elaborate. :-)

I shoot very short video clips with my S2 and then load them on the computer in My Videos using a card reader. By very short I mean 15 to 25 seconds. Then I start Windows Movie Maker and import the clip I want to email into that program. After you put the thumbnail of your video clip on the storyboard at the bottom you can select "send in email". You have to save the clip before sending it because in saving it it is converted from an .avi file to a .wmv file which makes it much smaller and easier to email. Yes, the quality is not as good but it has been good enough for the CBS affiliate in Tallahassee to use the video on local news broadcasts. I am using Windows XP Home Edition. Good luck!!

I have a A710is and recording a 10 min movie on the best setting results in a file size of about 1gb - easly to clog up your hard drive!!! However if you convert it to divx it is reduced to about 75mb or even less!
If you're recording on a lower quality setting (ideal for e-mailing) and then convert it to divx I'm sure it would be a very tiny file - ideal for e-mailing. However, I believe the recipient would need to download a free divx player to view it.
This format would also allow you to upload it to youtube or some other video hosting site without any problems.
You can download free divx converters. The one I use is Dr Divx ('cos its free! :D). You can download that at http://sourceforge.net/projects/drdivx/
You could also download it http://www.divx.com/ but I believe it is a time limited trail version...so you would need to pay once the trial is over.
If you're not sure just try googling "Divx" and read up on it.

if you are using Picassa you can just upload the file to a web album and send the link just like Photobucket. It will be linked to your Gmail account.

I send links to videos from my S2 all the time because our relatives are all far away. What I normally do is use Windows Media Encoder or Windows Movie Maker to reduce the file size and use the appropriate quality settings and have used two specific sites for sharing videos,
www.putfile.com - allows unlimited upload of media
www.photobucket.com - seems to allow a more user friendly user interface for the viewer.
Then, I just send the link directly or embed them into my smugmug site.
here is an example of using putfile.com

and here is an example of what it looks like if you send the direct link.

Hope that helps.
