All handheld with the Canon 100mm macro iso100 f2.8 at various shutter speeds. Ran them thru neat image, cropped some of them and USM.

Nice shots, but my only criticism would be they're all cropped rather tight. Too tight even. Great DOF though, just maybe show a little ground.

Most of the shots are cropped from sides to crop unwanted people. This sport is under very tight conditions. Most other photogs were taking shots 2 feet away from them using 10mm-50mm lenses. This my first time shooting this. One of the issues I have. Is that my 28mm lens will give me a nice pano view, but the DOF would make the subject blend with the background. So I switched to my 100mm and moved to another spot were I could frame the subject farther away. Most of the action was on the middle. Another was that the biker did no use colorful sportswear. They decided to go with plain clothes. This made difficult to identify them on shots. Check #4.

All in all. It is a blast to shoot this kind of sport. It is high pace full of energy.

These are from last year's event -- not mine.

Nice color and exposure. My only problem is what was just stated. Being a bmx rider myself, i like to see where they are, where they came from, how they got there, and where they are going after they are done. Otherwise it's just a person floating in space. But like i said, nice pics.

Yup! I agree. I checked the official photos from last year and have similar issues. Next time I will try vertical format with a lens that provides nicer bokeh. I might even try from the bleechers.

On a positive note. This lens just came back from Canon's service and prove to be a VERY fast lens for aquiring focus on fast moving subject. Lighting was good and I was achiving shutter speeds between 1/1000-1/4000. It did in fact had a AF problems wich Canon corrected.
