Cleve Flats - 2 More

Here's the first of two more photos I shot this past Friday morning. It had rained a good part of the night and the sky was breaking just as I was driving to work. I had to wait about a half hour for the clouds to break enough for this shot. Again, I used the CPL but this time the 24-105L.

This is the second in the series, shot about 15 minutes after the first when the sun was brighter. The edge of this bridge pillar can be seen at the left side of the first image near the bottom.

Thank you Lisa - that first one will be printed for a 16x20 mat and frame.... as soon as I buy the mat cutter and frame ;). And I can only imagine the second as a mural on some young teen's bedroom wall :lol:.

Right now the afternoon 5 O'clock light is still too high and bright in the sky. by October/November I'll start getting entirely different look to a lot of the same places which I plan to explore.

So many pictures to take..... so little time :rolleyes:. But the big advantage is that it's digital. I could not have afforded to do all this had it been MF film.

Never thought of a teen's wall, but you are right. I still love the shots, stu, keep them coming.

The first one is nice (as many people have already mentioned) but personally I like the second because of the contrast between the graffiti (sp?) on the walls and then the skyscrapers in the distance. Maybe it wouldn't be exactly what I'd want on my wall but I think it's a more powerful shot. Both are well done.

They are both very nice images. I say print'm big. The scope of the images would really work large 40 X 60? VERY NICE INDEED....

Hi Mrkeenan - I know exactly what you mean. The first is very attractive from a color and composition standpoint IMHO, possibly appropriate for something in an industrial trade magazine. The color attracts your eye, and almost distracts from the subject matter.

Now the second is more a blunt statement of subject. There's nothing really "pretty" about it in the post card sense. It's a more emotional, visceral type of image, giving contrasting views of the city as you note.
