question about the sigma ring flash

I'm a newb in macro, just ordered a lens and look forward to focus stacking some flowers (many thanks, LordV) All I have is speedlites and want to stay away from the bulk of a flash bracket (unless I can be convinced that they're not bulky)

I see that with the MR14-ex, you can fire the flash tubes @ a ratio (4:1, 2:1, etc.) But it looks like the Sigma EM140 is the same and little cheaper. For anyone who's owned the Sigma, what do you think about it? Can you also fire one tube @ a lower power than the other?

I've owned the Sigma and it is basically the exact same thing as the Canon, except it is built differently. It offers all the same features, including power ratios and wireless master, and I think you'll like it.

I eventually sold mine, though, because I wasn't really using it as I could have.

Thanks Mrvile, how do you mean built differently? You mean like an L lens compared to kit lens or just different layout?

Well both are made of plastic, but the Canon one is built more like the 430EX and the Sigma one is built more like the 500DG Super. The Canon just feels sturdier and probably will be able to take more abuse than the Sigma. However I personally don't think it's that much of a difference, especially considering how much money you save with the Sigma.
