! This query gets asked so often! and I do get a little exasperated with it I must admit..

Why Would I?

That woman next to the pink-haired person looks like she's about to have a coronary.

I would too, if I saw that. :p Neat shot, good timing!

Like everything else in photography and art it is all subjective. My first answer would be, "personal preference." The picture is not in an urban enough surrounding for them to be totally acceptable. Also, they blend in and out of clouds and through his body which is the main subject matter.

My follow-up answer would be, "If you are getting asked this question to the point of exasperation maybe they are on to something."

Either way, it is a very well done photo and you should be very happy with it. :D

:) Agree. I don't understand why people are disturbed by phone and power wires like these which are very non-intrusive. I love power lines and have a whole series of power line shots as well as many a bird sitting on a wire. :) Why not clone out the graffiti on the cement? :) or the people, they are very distracting to the main subject. :)

Great Capture BTW. Did he land it?

Your timing was excellent, very nice capture. You don't happen to have one about 1 second later do you? He looks like he's about to face plant. He must have really had some speed going there to complete a flip.

Nope, Do you know that it is not 'done'; to manipulate a press image in this way? In fact I could be de selected from the publication who commissioned this for doing that. Photographers have been fired for less..

So what would you do ? there are wires all over the place both sides of the skate park. They are part of the urban environment- And no they are not on to something. And what do you mean 'not in an urban environment to be acceptable? Should I post it some where else

I really dont know what you are saying..

And I am very happy with it!

You may voluntarily lower your exasperation meter at any time. I simply asked a question. You would think I suggested putting a mustache on the Mona Lisa.

Nothing in your posts indicated this is a press shot and it is not like I am asking if you might want to alter images of explosive clouds to make them look more menacing.

As far as you being happy with it.....I think I already covered that in a previous post.

As far as the sarcasm directed towards me from everyone else....(I have to assume it is sarcasm because of the lack of emoticons) Hey, I've got a thick skin and it doesn't bother me. Considering that I simply asked a question I think it is childish and immature. I expect more from POTN members.

I always thought if you post a shot(s) on these forums you would be looking for comments and criticism. It's a great way to see different perspectives and to get better as a photographer in some ways. The member was only showing his perspective and one should not take offense to C&C...or just don't post.
The wires aren't all that distracting, mostly because they blend into the sky...if they were darker and more visible, I could definitely see cloning them out. As it is, nice shot man.

Sorry

Ths has come up so often .

dont agree with cloning at all.

I dont know where this idea came from about manipulating images all the time.

What did you do before digital?

Were you in the darkroom burning and dodging ?

I doubt it.

I do this for a living and find it relaxing after a long day to post stuff on here, no pressure.

However if I feel that criticsm is misguided I will say so, and that does not mean I value the critics opinion less.

And I feel the need to clone to 'improve' a picture'IS misguided.

I like this shot quite a bit. How does it look in B&W? I usually try looking at all of my images in both greyscale and color to see what it does to the subject/context relationship.

Keep up the good work!
