Hi
Im in the process of buying a second hand D30 and just noticed that there is a white spot on the LCD display that appears to be a dead pixel....is this normal ...and should i be concerned.

Mick,
I wouldn't be terribly concerned about a dead pixel in the LCD. The LCD is only for reviewing the photos, and it's only just good enough for a cursory inspection and a check of the histogram. For critical assessment of a photo you still have to view it on your computer screen.
Now, a dead pixel on the CMOS sensor, that would be another story...

i agree with rudi...
my d-30's lcd display (about 9 months old now) developed one dark (i.e. dead) pixel about a month after i bought it...i was a bit bummed at first but then realized that lcd manufacture allows for a certain amount of dead pixels (evidentally unavoidable)
as rudi say...now if it was on your CMOS sensor :o

I have a dead pixel on my screen as well. Contacted Canon, and they said that up to 10% of the pixels would be considered 'normal'.
That means a LOT of pixels can die before the screen gets replaced under warranty.
