It's a beautifully colourful image. I like it! If you were able to do it again, I'd try a smaller aperture to get a bigger DOF.

I concur. A smaller aperture.

i like! a lot!

not sure if more depth of field would help here...kind of nice to draw the eye right to the center. certainly worth a try though. maybe focussing on the bright purple/black intersection would help the placement of focus just a bit though.

well done.

I think a narrower dof would work great on this shot. But it's still very good.

1: the limit on image size for the forum is 800px on the longest size and it's over that.
2: I agree a deeper dof would make it better

Check out the DOF for a focal length of 300 mm on an object that is about two metres away.

http://www.dofmaster.com/doftable.html

First set the lens focal length at the top, and select the camera from the drop down menu, and "calculate". For a 400D (350D), 300 mm lens at f/11, focused at 2.0 metres, the DOF is a whopping 20 mm (3/4 inch).

If the object is closer than 2.00 metres (6.56 feet), the DOF gets shallower.

If the object is relatively flat, getting it perpendicular to the line of sight would help more so that it's within the range of the DOF.

I like this image, nice contrast of colours, everything works well here. IMO
