I've never done a wedding, only portraits. A few days after the shoot I will show my customers an 8.5x11 w/ proofs on it. Since portraits involve only a few images, this is OK.
So what about a big wedding where you take 1K+ images? How do you present proofs for the client to choose which ones they want? Thanks:(

Online gallery. Or on a CD if they request it that way. Cheap and easy.
Preferably, you can even have an online ordering system. Makes your life and theirs a lot easier

6 x 4 bordered proof prints in a box, old fashioned but customers love em and I love flicking through em before sending them to the customer .... your missing out if you dont routinely see your work in print imo.

Online ordering site. I'm not too crazy about the ease of browsing, but I haven't had any complaints. If I could find an Instaproofs business model with the Google Picasa Web Albums UI that would be ideal.

private online galleries - my customers love it because they can give out the password to who ever and not be bothered with print orders, everyone can order waht they want.

Options:
- DVD (with Proshow Gold from www.photodex.com)
- Internet (any commercial photo sharing site, or I use www.eostemplate.com with www.jalbum.net)
- Proof books - spiral bound 10x15" sheets with 24 images per page (I don't include these in packages but I sell them at a reasonable price)
- Printed 6x4" proofs (I don't include these but I sell them at a reasonable price). There are scripts that help with this.

Select prints online, full shot in prints (prettily packaged). I like seeing my work in print, too.

we used to do the proofs in a box or album, but, now we do online proofing...seems to work the best...they can easily share it with family and friends who are not close by.

I do both. I like the online galleries for the actual proofing but find that brides like to carry my little proof books around with them (they are only 7x7) to show their friends so I throw those in too for good word of mouth.
