Took some pictures of a couple who is getting married in a month. We took the pics in their loft apt. Very challenging! Him - Tall and small head, Her - short and big hair. She is also a photographer and very critical of herself in pictures. I will post some later but right now I wanted to know some cc on this shot. Does the lomo work?

How did you do that. Why didn't it let me post? I hate computers. I have used photbucket before and never had a problem. What did I do wrong?

Audra in between your IMG tags the file reads as http://http//i187.photobucket.com/albums/x169/audrabuchanan/IMG_5862finale.jpg when it should just read http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x169/audrabuchanan/IMG_5862finale.jpg

Actually, it was just missing the colon (:) and the server automatically added http:// to the beginnin because it was missing.

It's a bit washed out for my taste.

I like the effect, but then again, I'm a huge fan of the desaturated look.

Toogy, do you like the picture or just the effect.

I like both! Although I do think his face has a couple of hot spots, that are somewhat annoying. But I do love the pose and I think the effect works well for it.

I like it, but there is just a bit too much detail lost in the highlights..
I do like the feel of it though ;)

The posing is great, but I don't care for the effect. It's too blown out for my taste.

Hi Audra,
Generally speaking, I do like the pose, but the effect is really not to my taste.
As I do like the pose, I don't think it works for an engagement shot... it seems a bit impersonal to me and really doesn't show any love, or emotion between the two. JMHO.

Thanks for the cc so far. We did get plenty of shots with them very close. In this shot we were trying to capture some of the loft (their first place).
I will work on the action and see if I can tone it down some. I don't even know if I am going to offer it or stick with the original.

looks like that lomo action is meant to give it almost a highkey effect.
do you have a pre-lomo version audra?

I like the lomo effect, and the pose is nice, although I agree with Bill, it is a bit impersonal for an engagement type pose. The thing I don't care for in this photograph though is the carpeting. Her wearing black, plus light carpeting, plus lomo effect makes it look almost like she is floating on a chair (at a quick glance anyways). I would maybe crop it a little closer to get rid of the carpeting and her shoes.

I have no idea what a "lomo" is but the photo looks washed out. Good composition but I feel (FWIW) that the couple should be tighter together and not posed like an album cover (CD for you young'uns) :)

I like the pose and facial expressions, but agree with a 'too washed out'

I don't think it looks very lomo to me.
No weird color shifts... no signature LOMO vignetting... but it looks cool anyway.

I like the effect not so much the pose. I figure they should be holding hands, hugging, something to show a physical connection.
As for the effect, I like it. Ahhhh foowey on the "lost detail". I can clearly tell they are both smiling. Eyes, lips, teeth, cheeks, all can be seen.:D

if he has a slightly small head, washing it out against the background might not help, leaving the dark hair and eyes only.
perhaps if he'd leant forward more to get more separation from background and make his head look slightly larger against his frame... perhaps slightly forward of his partner?
