I have a HP Scanjet 3970 (2,400 x 2,400 dpi scan resolution, 48-bit color) Scanner and wondering if it is good enough to do this:

Take a film picture, (4X6) Scan it to a digital image so I can do touch up in PSand then have it processed as an 8X10, or 11X13 Print?

If this scanner is not high enough resolution what are my options.

I shoot with a 10D also but want to use my film camera also, but if I can not touch up the film pics, may be wasting time.

I assume that you have only a 4x6 print to start from.

If you had a film neg or slide, you could do pretty good with a film/slide scanner.

Bob, I would have the negative but my scanner is a flatbed. Is there labs that make scans from negatives in higher resolution

Labs use film neg and slide scanners to make high resolution digital files.

My Canon FS4000US will make 4000 dpi scans that add up to files of 100-150MB each. If you can't print those up big, then nobody can.
