Hey all you Milwaukeeans we are trying to get a small group together to meet now and again. Just as work settled down for me all the groups in the area stopped meeting. I know you all are still out there shooting so why the groups stop I cant say.

Lets shoot for a small gathering mid to late august and if anyway has some good ideas of meeting place please chime in. Hope to see some of you soon!

Did you see the Renfair M&G?

Yes I did. That however was in Chicago I believe. I would like to have some people locally to go out and shoot with here and there. With that said I will try and make it to that as well.

I'm no expert but Kenosha folk might take exception to being labeled as Chicago...

I'm game for a M&G around the Milwaukee area. Almost any weekend in August works for me as well as some weeknights in case anyone wants to catch some late, late afternoon light just before some night shooting.

Might be up for it too, and hope I wasn't too harsh on the Renfair thing. It's in Bristol, just north of the border. I'm in Racine, but work in Brookfield.

Im of course in what time does that joint open again? I am going to the dave matthews concert in the evening so will probably have to be heading out there by 4ish or so. Also what is the longest lens one would need for zoo shots?

Hmmm- got a fire training house burning in the AM, then a buddy coming over to help me with inhouse portraits, then a party at the neighbors house later that night. Unfortunately, no time for the zoo.

BTW- Greg, I met you almost 2 years ago. We met in Barnes & Noble with another guy- Steve. We talked about cameras, and lenses for a few minutes, and you gave us the Tankkiller website.

Oh ya I remember that.:D You need to shoot me an E-Mail. Lots of photographers are going to the Bristol Renaissance Fair on Sunday. You should come. Let me know when you have time for the zoo.

I'm always up for a M&G anywhere between Janesville and Milwaukee and down into the Chicago area. I live in Janesville and work at the airport but unfortunately after the airshow things quiet down and there isn't much to shoot sept for our EMS Helo's and the Beech 18's next door.

Are you going to RenFair? We should be going, unless weather gets goofy.

ifixsharp,
Would a canon 100-400L be overkill or not needed for the Bristol Ren. Faire?

About the only thing at the faire that you can't get close to is the jousting events. The bleachers are right by the arena, but it's a big arena. You might want some long glass for that, if you want to get close-ups of the competitors. A long lens might also come in handy for the various stage shows if you want to zoom in on the performers from the back.

I'll have a 17-50 and a 70-200 with my 20D and will probably use the short lens more than the long one. I like to travel light at these things, but I've seen others who are loaded up with gear. It's all personal choice.

Thanks CurtisN for your advice. Its either the 70-200L or the 100-400L, I will decide tomorrow.

100-400 to big for the faire in my opinion

I was thinking about a trip to the Brookfield Zoo on September 22 Is there anyone else that would like to join me?

I know the Milwaukee zoo is a great place to take photos, But I heard the Brookfield Zoo is better.
