Not at all, you don't have to be a pro, only cool and crazy ;) kidding ;)
Seriously, as I understand, everyone is welcome. I copied this info from the semenar webpage:
"Target Audience and Requirements:
*the workshop will be interesting for people who regard photography as fine art.
*expected technical level: beginner to intermediate/advanced - hence, all levels are accepted ;)
*a camera with manual controls and a PC (studio flash) terminal is a must
tripod is desirable
*use of digital cameras is strongly encouraged as it provides for instant feedback"
Well, I can also copy/paste the Agenda too:
"Day One:
*Photography as Art versus Photography as a Craft
*flash, continuous and natural light, advantages and shortcomings, tips and tricks
*fine art portrature in a studio
*how to photograph a mystery
*questions and answers
Day Two:
*discussion of the first day results
*employing spontaneous approach in staged photography
*ethics and psychological aspects of working with a nude model.
*posing and lighting of a nude body."

I'm not sure about the terminal too, but, something tells me, it's not the hot shoe. Can someone clarify this for us? ;)
I don't believe that anyone around here has been to his seminars. But, I know (from the internet) a few people who went to his workshop in San Francisco. It was quite good, according to what I heard. He has another workshop palnned in Seatle on July 31 - August 1:
