Ixus 400 battery life

I have noticed that both my original Canon battery and the spare (Jessops own branded) for my Ixus 400 have a noticeably shorter life now than when the camera was new 15 months ago.

Can anyone advise how long I can expect them to last before new ones are required?

I think they usually last about 2 years (give or take).
