This is my second for this species of flower. Any input on composition or anything to make this better would be greatly appreciated.

If you could have a narrower DOF, it 'll look much better.
Was it the 50mm 1.8? which aperture? try to play on distance or aperture to have a better bockeh. Or, you can do it in post processing.

I agree. Less DOF. Good color & composition, though.

I like the original shops much more than the processed version, which looks a little to comic book for me.
In the original, I do have a couple of nit picks however. (Forgive me for my ignorance of the nomenclature) but that stem thing from the middle of the flower that extends outward -pointing at the upper left corner- seems to get lost in the background.
Additionally, I might have chosen a different flower with a larger difference in color. The orange of the petal on the lower right hand side gets lost in the yellow of the flower center.
All in all, very nice, I think I'm just being a little picky.
