If the stadium management does not allow a tripod, then do they allow a monopod? It might be worth an inquiry to them.

At a ballpark, some photographers are trying to capture the stadium experience. Others are trying to capture the action. Different lenses for different purposes.

See if you can rent a Canon EF 100-400mm f4.5-5.6 L IS USM for the match... Now that would be a fun day out!

With the 18-55 kit lens, you likely will not find a use for a tripod or monopod at 1 PM.

Great tip.....get real close to the action as the lens will not be of much assistance in this regard

If you are shooting down at the players and they are on grass, you should get a pretty good exposure reading. If you are low and are shooting against the sky, this can be a much more difficult task for the light meter. Internal flash is meaningless over 15-20 feet so don't bother with it.

Have fun and enjoy the game.

yah, i think it might be near 3rd base, field-level... so i'm shooting against the stadium seats =p ...we'll see how it goes.
