Light Panel cross support ?

I've noticed that some large light panels have a horizontal crossbar for support and some don't. Just curious, does the crossbar have any effect on the light?

Hi BayAreaPhotog,

You'd think it would but it doesn't. I'm a big fan of diffusion panels. I use them all the time and I make and modify them. The cross bar has no effect on the light.
