Please offer criticism, I would like to improve my technique, so any pointers will be taken to heart.
I bought the 10d in June for this trip and took a bunch of pictures. This one was taken while walking through the totem pole park just outside Sitka.
Thanks.

I like them, well done. Is Sitka near Wasilla? I have family up there...

sitka is in southeast alaska, wasilla is just north of anchorage.

they both seem soft to me..

wider is better for harbor shots, unless you can single out a single boat ;)

Those trees in the background look purple to me!? Definitely need some sharpening too.

Have another go at the PP and resubmit :D

Agree, is/was that intentional?

Saturation was pushed which popped the ferns.....and the trees in the background. Why they turned purple? You might know. At the time the shot was taken, there was a column of light that was coming through the trees that lit only the fern area....

A previous post suggested the that both photos were soft.
I agree.
How would you prevent this? Tripod? Faster shutter? Better glass? (obviously).

Here is one more to critique...
