Can someone tell if it is possible to zoom a bit more precise with the S40. Somehow it goes in steps which is a bit of a pain from time to time.
With my Minolta Dinax 5xi it is possible to use the zoom without steps. Now I have to zoom in or out and still move the camera bit myself....

The only digital cameras I know of that don't have steps are prosumers such as the Minolta Dimages. You'll find that almost every compact camera with a zoom (35, APS, digital) has steps. I assume it's cheaper and easier to implement a stepped zoom than a non-stepped zoom (such as the Dimages' fly-by-wire system).

ok, then I'll guess I'll have to live with it, sigh...
Guess I can't have it all...

Not the best solution I suppose, but in most cases I can just step back or step forward just enough to crop the picture the way I want it. Would be nice though if the zooming was a bit more precise.
