View Full Version : Slow synchro taking weird photos

I love my camera. I've just recently started looking at features I hadn't used before, one was the slow synchro, at first I thought that it was just weird lighting, but if I take a picture anywhere close to my monitor (the camera in front of the monitor, with no view of the monitor) it will actually have a screenshot OF the monitor!! It's really weird, has anyone else had this problem? It's kinda cool sometimes, but it's still kinda creepy how it gets into the shot when it shouldn't be able to see the monitor at all.

Here's a few of the shots I've gotten.

The first one, is obviously my computer screen edge, the second, I can see my photo album was open...
The third is weirdest in my opinion, it's actually a sims total collection case and the curtains behind the camera, not even anything electronical!!!!

How can my camera possibly catch images of things behind it??

When the shutter speed is slow the camera catches the light like that. The camera usually takes photos at 1/60 second speed, that means that it will catch the image that appears in 1/60 seconds , but for example if you set the shutter in 1 sec the camera will catch all the movement, light, an other stuff that appears on one second. Since the light is irradiating the longer the shuttering time will mean longer light exposure and for instance much brighter photos, but also if you move the cam while the shutter remains active it will catch all the movement even with light as you can see, that will mean that on the photo you will see a little ray of light that has the form of the movement that the camera made while it was taking the photo, or if you move the cam will also catch the movement and the photo will show a blurry image of you.

Are you sure the camera was finished taking each picture before you moved it? Slow synchro will use the flash, but it'll also keep the shutter open to "properly" expose the background. If you misjudge the total exposure time and turn around, you'll get a "double exposure" of any bright object that moves into the field of view.
