ok so i bought 2 new batteries for my battery grip/camera.
I ordered 2 BP-512's from this place on pricegrabber and I just got them in the mail. But there's a little problem they sent me the BP-511's.

sooo what do yall think i should do???

As far as I know the only difference between the 511 and the 512 is that the 511 has a groove along the top... otherwise they are identical.

Actually, you are better off with the bp-511's. THose are the batteries that come with and are recommended for use with the 300D.

THe 512's are ok too, as Cadwell, said, they are identical except for the groove.

I would consider yourself lucky since you got the ACTUAL batteries you are supposed to use with that camera instead of the bp512's.

well the guy called me and he says the 512 is rated at 1200mAH and the 511 is rated 1500mAH and i'm trying to find this on the web but everyone one of these sites says something different

Hehe, he's wrong on both counts.

The battery that comes with the 300D is a BP-511, and it is rated at 1100mAH.

However, you can also use the BP-512 if you want (also rated at 1100mAH), but the original is the BP-511.

You can buy OEM/generic versions of these batteries, and they come in many different flavours. Some are 1100mAH, some are 1300mAh, and some are 1500mAH. Every OEM manufacturer is different, and they all work in the 300D (the higher the mAH, the longer they should theoretically last).

I remember when you initially said you ordered some BP-512's, and I thought it was strange since the 300D originally uses the BP-511, and the BP-511 (and OEM's) are usually easier to find (although both types will work).

yeah i was thinking they were better so i got them but he sent 511's that are rated 1500(is on the back of package)
so i guess i did good
