I have just purchased two new lenses, a Canon 70-200mm f2.8L IS and a Canon 100-400mm f4.5-5.6L IS.
I’m thinking of getting a converter but was not sure which one to get the 1.4x EF MK2 or the 2x EF MK2.
I have been told that the 2x doesn’t give as good an image quality as the 1.4x is this true.
Any input would be very much appreciated.

Do a search for this topic. It's been covered several times I believe.

The image quality is noticeably worse with the 2x. Also you should bear in mind that you will have no auto-focus on the with the 100-400 using either TC.

I agree with Cadwell 1.4 will work with both lenses and the 2x will lose a lot of image quality . even the 1.4 can be difficult to use with 70 to 200 unless yours is an IS lens. the 100 to 400 will be a little slower with the 1.4 . I have both lenses and the 1.4
