Hey,

I had a recent idea. I work at a golf club and as some of you may have seen I've taken a few shots of people's swings for my own leisure.

I'm now thinking of taking it a small step further and selling prints with/without frames. What I would like to initially do is put a poster up in the clubhouse with a few example frames with a price list. But I'm having trouble finding good prices for frames at the moment.

One example would be this:

4 Picture Frame (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Multi-Picture-Frame-Holds-Photos-Nickel/dp/B000FHR902/ref=sr_1_1/203-0224764-9502342?ie=UTF8&s=kitchen&qid=1186131278&sr=1-1)

which would cost me £15 odd and a couple of quid for the prints. So to make anything decent on them I would have to sell them at around £22.

or this:

Wooden 10 x 8 (http://www.amazon.co.uk/premium-real-wood-picture-frame/dp/B000RJEK3W/ref=sr_1_17/203-0224764-9502342?ie=UTF8&s=kitchen&qid=1186137947&sr=1-17)

Which is £10 odd so I would have to sell them at around £18.

That would make about £5 profit on each and to be honest I have NO idea how many people will go for it, I'm just doing it as a bit of learning for me and a pocket money earner if it goes well.

So my question is, do you know of anyway I could cut costs? £10-£15 seems a lot for one frame and I don't want to rip people off with high prices!

You could go to a local arts & crafts store and purchase the kits to build them yourself. It's very easy to do and the costs can be dramatically less than what you're currently paying, as well as keeping the professional look. Once you get established, or if there's a high demand, you could purchase frames similar to what you're looking at in the above links and charge separately for the frames. If people like them, they'll buy them. Most of the time, they'll already have an extra 10 x 8 lying around in the house and just purchase the prints.

Trading 4 U sell an A4 wooden pine frame, for like £5-00 they have quite a range of frames, but of poor quality, (you pay for what you get), but they are quite acceptable to put photos in the £5-00 is actually quite nice
