I noticed a lot of members are from Tampa . Thought a thread on hot spots or favorite locations to shoot could be shared here or possible up coming events to shoot . I found that medard park is good for shooting alligators . So far honeymoon island is my favorite place to shoot wildlife such as osprey along with a abundance of other birds as well .http://shutter15.pictures.aol.com/data/pictures/09/007/3F/F1/4B/AB/+5lW0Wx1SJrXQgZsr4jGtzwQFqVvw1n70300.jpg

I am in Tampa about once or twice a month, near Wesley Chapel area. There are some nice hills in Polk County/Zephyrhills area.

I'll be headed down to Orlando and Tampa in the middle of March.
Probably make the usual rounds to the parks, and I am also looking to attend a NY Yankees spring training game.
Do any of you know what the policy is with cameras at Legends Field?
Also, please share some photo ops locations close to the 2 locations. Particularly interested in landscape type shots...beaches, sunsets...and maybe even a little bit of wildlife.
As far as theme parks, actually we don't have kids yet, so we are thinking Universal and maybe Animal Kingdom. Again, any restrictions on camera gear in those places?
Thx!!!

I believe Animal Kingdom has an additional tour for their safari ride. It's extra, not sure how much, but I'm sure it'll give you better shots than the ride itself. Have you called Animal Kingdom? Might be your best bet.

Hi. I'll be in Tampa area - across the bay - in the area of Highway 19 and Tampa Road - Palm Harbor - next week.
any suggestions for a spot to shoot that is with 30 - 40 minute drive?
Thanks.
PS: I'm new to dslr, so nothing too challenging.

Hi All,
I'm in the Hudson/New Port Richey area.
I've been lurking around this forum for a couple of years now without posting anything. Just replaced my good 'ol 300D with a sweet new 30D. Better glass is next. So it's time to get active again. There are ducks waiting to be immortalised.
Meanwhile ... if there is anything of interest going on around here, someone be sure to post. I'm interested in nature/bird photography but pretty much just want to learn and improove my skills.

Tampa here....
John Chesnut Park ranks high on my list of photogenic places to go. Very nice place; Osprey's, Red Shouldered Hawks, Alligators, and the usual Great Blue Herons, Egrets, as well as many other birds! Fun place...

Lettuce Lake Park, Bay Shore Blvd, Flatwoods Park, Hillsbourough County Park, River Park in Tampa Palms (technically a private park, but there is no guard). Technically not in Tampa, but within a reasonable distance: Ft Desoto Park in Pinellas County. Downtown St Pete, St Pete Pier.
I'm surprised more folks are offering suggestions instead of talking about where they are from... :)

Thought I'd give this thread a bump, I just moved from Dallas to Tampa about a month ago. Had my first day off in a while and realized I don't have a clue where to go shoot lol

That's funny I lived in Plano/Allen and Las Colinas before I moved to Tampa. Welcome to the year round warmth and WATER :)

I love to drive up through Pasco and Hernando County - Just grab a back road and let it take you to some wonderful photo ops. Landscapes, old tractors, buildings and much more. I know it's not Tampa but I suspect the whole area counts :)

Haha that's hilarious. I actually lived off of Stacy road in Allen and went to school off Custer and Renner in Richardson. Then moved to Denton for college. I figured saying Dallas would have been a more recognizable area for everyone else hahaha
And yes, it does count. Everything is so close together here it's crazy.
