I apologize for my ignorance but I'm never going to learn if I don't ask these questions. Here it goes...

I have a DRebel and a Canon i9100 printer along with all the software that came with them. I have no problem (that I'm aware of) downloading the pictures onto my computer. One of my questions is do I have to resize them, if so how do I do that? I would like to email many of them in like a 4x6 size, how do I do that?

Another quesiton I have is how do I know what size is going to print? I follow the directions and pick the right paper and size that I desire but I end up with only half the picture or it's not centered, etc.

Are there any certain steps one must always follow to ensure good, workable photos?

I apprecitate any help anyone can offer. Even if you can only turn me in the right direction.

Try using the Canon Easy Photo Print software that came with both the DRebel and the i9100. It is extremely basic, but gives very nice output to the various preset paper sizes.

Once you become more familiar with other printing options in other software you may choose to take advantage of the greater flexibility and options, but for now this will get you very good prints that fit the page.

Thank you, that's what I have been using.

I was under the impression that each picture was a different bit size depending on the picture. I have since been informed otherwise.

It's going to take much playing on my part to figure out how to use everything.

The easy print software is helping also.

If the image doesn't fill the whole page, you can click the Trim button and it will propose an area that will. If you like it, your're done, if not move it around or resize it and then you're done.

I use photoshop album 2.0 and find its great, lets you select from a list of stock print sizes and away you print, it will max the number of a given print size to the page, 3 4x6 or 2 5x7 or one 8x10 well you get the idea. Anyways I'm sure adobe has a trial verion you can download to try for 30 days. Don't forget to set your printer options such as paper type and print quality.
