Hi guys,

Not sure if this is the place to post this, or the accessories sect, but here goes:

I need your suggestions for a problem I sometimes have especially in low-light/low-contrast still life subjects.

Is there any device, besides the Canon ST-E2 (http://emedia.leeward.hawaii.edu/frary/st_e2.htm (http://emedia.leeward.hawaii.edu/frary/st_e2.htm)) that I can mount on the hotshoe which will emmit a criss-corss (or whatever) IR pattern for my lens and cam sensor to pick up on and focus?

The Canon wireless transmitter is just too costly, even at 2nd hand prices to justify getting just as an AF assist light.

I'm using manual flashes and would not want to get an AF digital flash just for this please.

If you know of any products that I can use, please let me know the brand name/model and possibly where I could get it from.

Thanks in advance for your help. http://forums.clubsnap.org/images/cs/smilies/wink.gif

I think the ST-E2 is the only thing that can do what you want. If you spend a little more, you can get a 430 EX and you've got the added value of a flash, not just a trigger. Not sure how well it'll work, but a cheaper option would be a Sunpak flash or even a Sigma flash.
