View Full Version : More Zion

The last couple I shot of Zion were relatively close up shots, which didn't seem to go over well. Here are a few that are a little more panoramic. Unfortunately the sky was a pretty solid gray that day, which is why I guess I took more close ups without the sky in them. Personally, I would like the second one if the sky had been a little nicer that day.

You and I had the same problem - overcast skies. You could always add a gradient blue that would look convincing. As it is, I like the 3rd the best.

Even with the sky, I like these better than the close ups. I agree with you, I love the second one the best. Maybe if you crop it a tiny bit on the top, you can elimnate some of the blown out sky. Thanks for posting these...

Thanks for the replies. Unfortunately I don't have any software that allows much modification. Any recommendations for a Mac user?

The most basic of photo processing software should have a flood fill tool. I use Paint Shop Pro. Photoshop has got to have it as well. I will attach an example.

I used the same color from the sky in one of my valley of Fire pictures. In the 2nd, I added some contrast, brightness, saturation, and sharpness to it. My 2nd edit might be a bit much, but you get the idea.

Nice, shots too bad about the featureless sky and sorry but turning it blue doesn't help a lot for me, still featureless. :)

#3 is great and certainly the rocks etc. are great in the others.

No need to apologize, I agree. While I think it looks far, far better with the blue sky, a cloud or two would really make a difference. When I learn a little more about manipulating my images, I might try to add this:
