what is the easiest and safest way to clean the D60 sensor?...thanks

Popular choices are plain air (manual brushless blower), Sensor Swabs from http://www.photosol.com or sending to Canon. There will always be some dust there (at f/22+), so don't clean it all the time, the CMOS coating might suffer.

Like Pekka, I recommend the Sensor Swabs (wicked price, tho') and also the Eclipse Fluid.
