Race 1...
I positioned myself somewhere between Westfield Bend and Dingle Dell and spent lots of time messing about with different shutter speeds and modes...
This is the first time I've tried taking serious photos at a motorsport event, I used my Canon EOS 400D and a Sigma 70 - 300mm zoom.
These are a few of the results where I did actually catch the bikes and not empty tarmac or a fuzzy blur!
James Toseland on his way to his first ever double victory in front of the home crowd... 1/200 300mm.

This is Haga forcing a pass on Laconi after stacking it in 2nd place and re-joining the race in 11th... 1/1600 190mm (I think I set the shutter speed much too fast)

This is Haga on the cooling down lap, finishing in 8th I think... 1/400 149mm

It turns out panning was a lot more difficult than I anticipated! I wasn't expecting to be following a bike I couldn't see through the crowd to the point I had planned to make the exposure.
I want the track photographer's job!!!
Please leave me comments, feedback (good or bad) is always good when starting out.
If you're still interested, check out more of the day's photos here...
