I took this a little while back and have just re-kindled it of sorts. It is in an area in Providence Rhode, Island at a rare time when I could shoot without any people getting in the way. I would like some C&C on it. Thanks for reviewing-

To me this is a great shot ... the lack of people is great and gives it an eerie look and feel ... I love it.

 when did you manage that?!
I kind of wish you'd managed to include the Turk's head in there, but it's a cool shot nonetheless!

Nice shot. I've never seen that part of the city with no people! My only criticism would be I'd crop a little off the right.

I like the shot as well. I do find myself wishing there was a little more 'pop' to some of the colors--whites standing out a little more and such. Great comp though!

I think it's beautiful.
I, too, would like to know when there was no people there.

Ah I see now, it was taken at 5:11am on the date in question! I suspected this, as at any human hour the whole area is teeming with activity. 5:11am is what I call suffering for your art ;)

Wow, thanks for all the great replies!! I do have a version that has a little bit more pop.. this one I softened the feel and lost some of the brightness. As for the turks head building I do have a picture of that, I will probably post it but so far I am not sure about the final... I did not have my tripod and the angle was tough. Alec, 5:11 am.. I think that is wrong... maybe 5:11 pm... I don't remember being down there that early in the morning especially since I usually go for night or dusk shots. I will recheck with another photo I took I think it was that day that I call "Haven's at dusk". The key really is to do it on a Sunday and just wait for people to stay away... although it could have been 5:11 am but that's so not my time of day, haha. I really appreciate all the comments and compliments. I will post up my Turks Head picture soon...

I would also guess morning based on the lighting...looks like the sun is hitting that building in the background from the East :)

It's a great shot of Downtown.
Welcome to the forum MissSage!
My critique is going to be a little harsh if hopefully humorous,..
You have taken a photo of the landmark "Turks Head Building" yet managed to crop off the "Turks Head" right in the middle!
Googles take on the architectural element you sliced in half (http://images.google.com/images?hl=en&q=turks+head+building&um=1&sa=N&tab=wi)
At the same time the planter to the right should have been included or left out, but not both.. :) (leaving the branches extending in is fine though IMHO..
I like your vantage point, and the timing and exposure are very nice!
Now go back and look up a little higher and take in that architecture! :) :)
Nice to see a Fellow RI'er around :)
Sunrise on any given Sunday (and even Saturday) Downtown Prov is usually totally vacant except for the odd resident walking his dog..

I do have a picture of the turks head building, that was not my intent in this shot. The time is incorrect as I checked through my other pictures and they are all wrong... when I looked at the date and time on the camera it is correct so the error is elsewhere I guess. I never use the EOS utility disks that came with the camera as I am mostly in photoshop.. perhaps I can fix my settings via the disk? CyberDyne, yes very nice to see a fellow Rhodie here, I too am in Providence! Thanks for the welcomes and such peeps! I will get that picture of turks head up soon. Anyone know how I can fix this exif problem???
Also I am not sure if the picture of the tree thing was cropped after it was photographed, I will have to go back and check my native files.
