Had my 1DsMkII sitting here since Friday. I held off opening it because I was still throwing around the idea of a MKIII. Anyway I dug into it tonight and took a couple shots. I cannot believe what I have been missing on a crop camera. (Still have my XTi) Clarity of the viewfinder is another fantastic thing here. Mostly though I was just really in shock and what a full frame picture looks like through the viewfinder. Very nice Not getting the long end will be sorely missed though.

I made the mistake of picking up a 5D and looking through the viewfinder a while back... the 24-70 is just gorgeous on a full-frame. Wish I could afford the 1ds ;) Now that's something you'll be enjoying.

I thought only the 5D was considered full frame. Shows what I know...

The 1DsMKII is a great piece of hardware. I have been shooting with one now for about 18 months and absolutely love it. I have kept my crop cameras and choose whichever camera is going to work for the task at hand. I hardly never use the Ds for wildlife but for nature and scenics is it is awesome. It is my primary body on all of my commercial work. I have the 5D as well and do use that as a backup for weddings and such. The 5D is more my walk around full frame camera because it is so light and does a great job as well.
Enjoy the new body, you will have alot of fun with it.

That's great news! Mum - the EOS-1DS AND THE EOS-1DS Mark II are full frame as well as the 5D.

Don't they have a 1.3 crop factor or some such thing? Thought I read that somewhere. But they are still considered full frame?

That would be the 1D, 1DMKII, 1DMKIIN, and the new 1DMKIII (APS-H).

It is a breath of fresh air in that viewfinder. Frankly, after awhile you get so used to understanding that you have two sets of lenses when you have a crop and full frame camera. I love the versatility that both give you.
