Can one use another type of glossy paper with an Epson Printer?

I used to use Ilford paper on an older Epson 820...it worked great. But this same paper did not work with the 2200, so for a long time, I could only use the Epson papers with the 2200.

Now, Ilford seems to have a new line of "smooth" papers in various glossy grades that will work with pigment-based (2200) ink. I haven't tried it yet, but I probably will when my Epson paper runs out.
