need some help making the right decision:
i have a 300D along with a 50mm 1.8 / 17-40 L / EF 70-300 IS/ and the kit lens
i got a promaster 58MM close up kit thinking my 50MM 1.8 could be my primary lens for close-ups
i stepped up the 50MM with an adapter so i could share the lens caps and filter across my other lens at 58mm
of course the 17-40 L has a whopping 77 ring and is not part of this(maybe)
my main interest for close-ups is wildflowers
i really like to fill up the frame with flowers
i have been resonabbly happy with the 50mm lens combo and being able to use the filters and close-up lens also on my 70-300 is handy
disappointments so far has been managing a deeper DOF
also it is a real challenge getting my focus and composition where i want it because most of my subjects are really close to the ground
i live at 9500 feet in elevation and everything here is somewhat stunted
the constant breeze is also a factor
sooooo
would a lot of my problems go away is i got a 100mm macro
i have seen a lot of positive feedback on that lens for macros
not sure if would be best for wildflowers
it has been a drag lying on my belly on the damp earth trying to get a small tripod in place
i recently ordered a bean bag like thing from adorama called a pod but it has not arrived yet
i need some suggestions on technique and equipment pls ....pls ... pls...
